A friend recently told me about a brainteaser her boyfriend received from a hedge fund. She doesn't remember the details, but what she does remember goes something like this:

You're in a 100 story building with two crystal balls. How many steps can you take before the crystal balls break? (From what I understand you would be dropping them out of a window or something.) She said the answer was 14 steps, but has no idea how you're supposed to get that answer. (Or even if she's right or not.)

What exactly do they do? What are some of the similarities/differences with more traditional ibanking? I've heard that it's become kind of hot lately, but I don't know that much about it...is the compensation similiar to that of a standard ibanking analyst? Any info would be much appreciated...even if it's just pointing me towards the right place to look. Thanks.

I've been reading the forum for a few days now, and I can't even begin to understand how I landed a summer internship in a top 10 bank. I go to a non-target (top 40 undergrad business school), and from what I've been reading you shouldn't even have a shot if you don't go to Harvard, Yale, Wharton, etc. My gpa is a 3.2, and again everybody says that you shouldn't even bother unless you have at least a 3.5.
