Opinions on JD/MBA...?

Firstly, is it really impossible like people say it is? When I say I'm looking into this option people look at me like I'm out of my mind. Anyway does the extra schooling for a JD/MBA rather than an MBA really help in the long run if you want to go into hedge funds (or mutual funds, or REITs, or LBO or the like) eventually?

By the way, I tried the search function. Nothing shows up.

CFA...?

This might be the wrong place to ask but for people who already have their charters, how long does it usually take? I assume at least 4 years after college, but let's assume that you get your CFA I somewhere close to graduation (undergrad)...and if you fail the first time can you keep taking the exam until you pass?

Bank of America....what's up?

I know nobody here works in commercial banking because commercial banking's for lameos, but um I have a question. It has to do with credit card payments. I made a payment through transfer online yesterday and on the confirmation page, they would "update" today, but those bozos still haven't posted my goddamn payment yet. What's going on? Is there some sort of law against this? I need to know in case they tack on some bullshit late fee and I have to sue them at small claims.

IB in Montreal?

Just curious how many ibanks have offices in Montreal? I thought there would be a huge industry there since there's no Quebec provincial income tax.....well at least that's what I got from the canadian revenue agency.

AAAACCCHHHH....HELP!!!

Ok So I stupidly thought I could write a 5-page term paper on junk bonds in like 3 hours and pull off an A. And now I'm up shit's creek and I'm going to fail like everything....anyway this paper's for english (junk bonds is a relevant topic because we were doing yupppie-era stuff) and anyway I need help. So can all you ibanking gurus tell me a little something about junk bonds? I just need some interesting background info. I've been all over google and all I can get is current stuff...I need stuff from the 80's!!!! (and I'm desperately posting here even though I know most of us here weren't working in IBD in the 80's...but some of us know more about junk bonds than others) (I'll cite this topic)

IBD vs. Capital Markets

How different are they exactly? I know in IBD you work like a dog and you're in the office from anywhere between 80-140 hours/wk, and traders do about 50-60, but how much do capital markets ppl do? Do they work similar hours to IBD? Any difference in compensation? I still don't get what capital markets guys do. Monkey Business describes them as "the illegitimate bastard child between a banker and a trader" but what the hell does that mean? Do they like sit there and just say "the markets are good" or something like that? How are the exit opps (esp into top PE firms/top bschools)? Just curious.
