Hedge Funds Info

Questions:
A) Why do people generally choose IBanking over Hedge Funds?
B) What are the risks in Hedge Funds? Is there low job security?
C) What skills does someone have to develop in college to work on hedge funds and to get hired?
D) Are hedge funds more oriented toward quantitative types or verbal (social) types (I realize there is overlap)
E) What is the compensation for hedge funds for someone coming out of college?

Networking

Any tips on networking? How do I get in touch with alumni from my school...what sort of questions should I ask them? I've heard that it's bad to ask for internships directly in the first e-mail, but is it appropriate to ask questions about their job, lifestyle, etc? Is it ok to ask for advice?

Also, far out question...any tips on "learning" how to take initiative, form your own companies, etc.?

how to use connections

I have a question. I go to Princeton, and I see there is lots of room for networking. I can pull the grades, but can anyone give me advice on selling myself? I have a relative who works at Lehman Brothers in NY. Any suggestions on approaching him (I haven't met him, but I know pretty much his whole family). If anyone has gone to Princeton or any Ivy League school, do you have any advice on making connections? I come from a small town in the South, so I'm not so in tune with how to interact in a quick-paced atmosphere.
