Working for the Fed

Does anyone know how hard it is for non-targets to get in at the Fed; is it as selective as IB or S&T? Also, does anyone know anything about the compensation for a recent grad working there?

Simple VC Question

So say a group of people raise a VC fund for the first time. Do they use the raise to pay their salaries, or do they not take one. Say they hire an analyst down the road before any exits happened/money was made. Do they use the raise to pay the analyst's salary?

Prop Trading Selectivity

I've read a lot of the recent posts on here about prop shops, most of which pertain to rankings. I was wondering how hard it is for non-targets to get recruited at respectable shops (Trillium, Susquehanna, FNY); is recruitment as heavily dependent on school prestige and politics like IB, or can highly quantitative and focused NT's make it into these firms? I know the less-respectable "arcade" or retail shops exist, but I imagine these are easier to get into and thus not the kind of places I'm referring to... correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks

Intern Diligence Help

I need to find the travel expense of 15 companies (big names) but cannot find it on any of thier income statements or the notes. The expense accounts are all very broad; I was simply hoping for a "Travel Expenses" account. Anyone have any ideas? I've even opened the entire 10-K and used Ctrl-F to search for instances of "travel", but that didnt work either. There's nothing. Help?

Intern Assignment - Help Me Find This

Does anyone know where I could find a list of FoF's or family offices that invest in VC Firms? I don't know if anything like this exists; so far I've just been scraping around company websites looking to see if they do indeed invest in VC firms. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Help with VC Project

I have to (amongst many other things within the project) identify the major players in the local search/local advertising industry and how many of these companies are VC funded. I think I've identified the major players (GYM, the popular online yellow pages and directories, and then some local niche companies) but I was wondering how I could go about finding what companies are VC funded. There are so many major companies in this industry, and I'm wondering if the only way to do this is look up the history of every company and their finances. I'm sure that's the only route, but am still in search of a more efficient way.

Thanks

VC for Soph?

Would a unpaid internship this summer at a small (very small, early stage) VC firm be valuable to a NT sophomore? I know this has to be a better opportunity than just doing some gig in PWM, but will this be a good enough experience to stand me out of the NT pool?

Constructive Criticism

After a rejection, is it alright to ask HR or other contacts about weaknesses in an application/things they were looking for. Does HR usually dispense some constructive criticism if they're asked for it? And furthermore, are any firms still recruiting in Ops or PWM, or does anyone know where I can still find summer opportunities this late in the game?
