BDs and BMDs

So the word is, MDs are feeling kind of insecure with just the managing director designation and need something better, so effective June 1 2008, all MDs in iB in the US will be re-designated 'BD' or Big Daddy. All senior MDs will be designated 'BMD' or Big Mac Daddy.

That will be all for now.

Seasons Greetings

Considering no one else has said it so far:

Merry Christmas and best wishes for 2008 to all running and using wso.com. Even if some amongst us think seasons greetings, Christmas, good cheer etc.... like lunch, are for wimps, I think we can agree that wso.com is a great resource. So great job running the site guys (who ever you are), and best wishes for the new year.

A futurist topic

Hey all,

Have a read of this:

http://www.iht.com/articles/2007/12/17/technology/17chip.php

Wondering if anyone shares my view that when the following happen:

(1) parallel computing finally does become viable and affordable for the BBs; and

(2) the spiritual successor and/or ass kicking descendant of Excel able to take advantage of parallel computing arrives

Wanted peoples' opinion on the following question: In an iB interview (for a FT position), is it considered ok or taboo to talk about transactions: (1) you are working on that are not yet public, or (2) which never went through.

Hi guys, any info on the above would be appreciated. Am expecting answers along the lines of "its about the same as NY or harder" so I am actually just checking to see whether there are opinions to the contrary based on experience

Valuation question

Hey all,

Just out of curiosity and asking as i think i may have to do this in the near future, any idea how to value Govt offered exclusivity in the sense of having exclusive rights to offer access to a technology infrastructure buildout being undertaken? Just thought i'd ask to get some feelers before doing some of my own research.

Never done this but I was thinking of valuing it by using a formula such as: for year 1: [forecast total traffic across bandwidths offered given assumed monopoly/duopoly price and other assumptions MULTIPLIED BY said assumed monopoly/duopoly price] LESS assumed ITDA for year 1 (as in EBITDA minus the EB]] and SUMMING the result over x years where x is the number of years of exclusivity offered.]
