Whats the best way for me to move to a front office position?

I am currently a mail clerk at JPMorgan. The pay is bad and so are the hours. I am decently liked about my managers, and would like to break into Investment banking. I am currently finishing up my college degree at Nassua Community, should I apply after I receive my associates?

I have a front office trading job at a major bank (not an investment bank though)

Basically I'm in offshore funding, and we trade t-bills and loans and shit. I just started, but they make most of their money through the spreads between the federal discount rate. They also make money by taking over night deposits, and paying below the federal discount rate. They also do foreign exchange swaps I believe, but aren't the foriegn exchange desk. Most of their trading is more of "sales" like...Corporations and banks call asking to either deposit or borrow money, and they try to get the highest profit while maintaining the relationship. Its basically some hybrid between sales and trading, and is within the company corporate treasury department. It's not very hard core trading, although it is fast paced ( shit load of phone calls). They refer to themselves as front-office traders, and we have an operations support team... But I have no idea how I'm going to put this on my resume.

My friend has a Goldman Sachs internship in Ops. He's been waiting for a month and a half for his background check to clear, has been calling twice a week for a while now. They finally got back to him, and told him they lost A LOT of the background checks/drug tests. A bunch of people have to take the drug test again during orientation. Since a lot of people start smoking again right after they take the drug test, I expect quite a few people to have just ruined their lives. He got 4 days notice about this.

I started an internship 2 weeks ago. It's part time and was supposed to go FT during the summer.

Anyways, I just received a summer analyst offer, so no way in hell I'm staying in my operation internship. The thing is, during the interview/when I got my offer they made me assure them I would stay for the summer/wasn't interviewing anywhere else. they are going to be PISSED if I leave.
