Doostang Equivalent

Does anyone know or can recommend a service like Doostang?

Specifically, I'm looking for a place to post future internships. Facebook is free but terrible and everywhere else does not have ready Finance/Banking candidates.

(I'm aware that WSO is an option, I'm asking if there are any other ones I may be missing).

Los Angeles

Good job WSO. Back in my day we didn't have fancy boards for new grads.

Seriously though, having grown up in LA, I can probably give some pretty good insights on where to live and where to go when not working. Let's make this a running topic for those who are thinking of moving here.

I'll start with a few things:
-Live on the Westside.
-Craigslist is the easiest way to get a roommate
-You won't find anything decent for under $1,000/month
-If you don't make happy hour at least once a week, you're working too hard.

Discuss.

West Coast Buy-Side (ex-Analyst) Survivor

I know this board's BB&IB-centric, but I like that they've devoted a whole section to Asset Management.

I spent 2 years at a small (~$2B AUM) firm in LA after graduating from a target school. Being the sole analyst, I did everything from pitchbooks (shockingly), to RFPs, to portofolio analysis and modeling, to making sure the 2 MD's and lone trader were happy 24-7.

Fox-Pitt, Kelton Cochran

I did use the "Search" function and nothing came up.

Anyone had any experience with this i-bank? Also, I heard analyst comp is base + 1.5x bonus and/or comparable to BB, any truth to this?

West Coast Bankers?

Not to hijack the forums from their NYC-centric bend, but I'm curious to know who out here is on the West Coast (which in banking basically means SF and LA) and how they ended up at their current job (i.e. school, experience, etc.).

I'm trying to figure out if people in LA are recruited specifically from West Coast schools or if there are any brave souls who went to school back East and decided to try their luck West.

Wharton MBA Waiting List

Has anyone heard what the acceptance rate is for Wharton MBA's on the waiting list?

Since there are a bunch of HS kids here, let me share a WSJ article about PENN/Princenton's UG waiting list:

PENN/Princeton routinely waitlist a few hundred kids every year (~500 or so). In 2006 PENN accepted 42, Princeton 0. In 2007, PENN accepted 25, Princeton 30. Some kid in the article called it like "being in purgatory."
