Equity Derivatives or Interest Rate Derivatives?

Anyone have any insight into which of these areas are still profitable in today's markets? Which would you rather be on?

S&T SA - Living alone or in double in EHS/NYU

I can either sublet a studio by myself or stay within a double in an EHS building (with an randomly assigned roomate). I'd prefer my own bedroom but I see how it might be beneficial to live around other interns in EHS especially if I don't know a lot of people to hang out with.

Thoughts on going into Mortgage Trading now

I'll be doing a summer rotation at a BB this summer. Out of all the desks (throwing market conditions aside), mortgages are the most interesting to me.

They say they'll still hire younger people but is it still a huge risk to take with my summer? (aka will this market ever get back to where it was or is the MBS CDO no longer going to exist the way we knew it before)?

Various Derivative Trader Pay/Hours

I'll be doing a S&T internship this summer - looking at derivative and structured products (more quantitative) desks. What are the difference in pay and hours for equity derivatives, interest rate derivatives, credit derivatives, any other derivative i'm missing?

Final Choice for Summer S&T Jobs - ML, DB

I have it down to these 2 firms in New York. I'm interested in FI Trading (so I think now). I know DB may have the better reputation in that area (mostly in Europe) but the Merrill name means much more in the US. This would mean something if I don't love my job and decide to pursue other options a few years down the road.

What would you do?

Capital Markets vs. S&T

I know DCM/ECM is an intermediary role between banking and trading. Sit on trading floor. semi-faced paced environment. I'm trying to decide what's better for me. I've been on trading floors and like the environment, I'm just not sure if you have to be stone cold regarding your ability to take risk to be a good trader.
