Leave of absence

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience/knowledge about taking a leave of absence (unpaid) for a 2nd year analyst. I have some serious family issues and need to return home for at least several months. I'm hoping that my bank will allow me to take an unpaid leave of absence and be able to return to my job, but I'm not sure if they will and our company literature doesn't really cover this. If they don't allow this I'll be forced to resign. I'm a bit nervous about raising the issue with HR (although I know I will have to), so I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience or advice regarding this issue. Thanks.

Dealbreaker bonus spreadsheet

..is out. View it here:

http://dealbreaker.com/2008/05/2008_bonus_payouts.php

These numbers seem very high based on the discussions here...who knows where they get their info from...

If these #s are close to accurate, though, I will be the happiest man alive. Anyone know if these are top or mid-bucket numbers, though, and are they the same for S&T analysts?

No bonus?

Don't know if anyone caught this but Charlie Gasparino was on CNBC today saying that his "sources" in Citigroup told him that some employees are going to essentially be told that they will get no bonus this year but can keep their jobs. He was pretty vague about who would be affected and he's been wrong in the past, but this would be scary news if true for analysts, since banks across the street are fairly uniform and I know that last year Citi paid as much as the top of the street. Could we see zero bonuses?

Tax rebates

I started working at a BB in July 2007. I didn't file taxes in 2007 because I didn't have income in 2006 when I was still in school (didn't have to work a formal job so the little money I did make was self-employment income and not enough to be taxed on).

What to do if laid off?

So I think it's safe to say that all of the big banks will be making layoffs in the next few months, at least in some divisions. I'm wondering what a first-year does if he/she is laid off?

What can my blackberry do?

Ok, so dumb question, but where I went to school nobody had a blackberry. Now I've been issued one by my bank and there's probably a bunch of cool stuff that I can do with it but I don't really know anything about it, except how to use my email and phone. Are there any cool applications that you guys put on your blackberrys? How about music/video? I have an 8700, if that matters...
