Good books to learn investment banking

Could anyone suggest a good text that one can learn some basics about investment banking from? I dont mean novels like Liars Poker or Monkey Business, nor prep classes like Dealmaven, but rather just straight up educational texts. Thanks for any input.

Most productive way to spend Freshman summer.

I'm an incoming freshman at Columbia and am wondering, what is the most productive way to spend my freshman summer if i want to land an analyst job out of college. Should i try for a boutique bank internship or a PWM internship at somewhere like Merrill? Any (serious) input is appreciated.

When asked during an IB interview if you got an offer already from another firm, could you just bluff and say you did without the interviewer ever being any the wiser?

College Internship Process

Hi guys,

Im new to this forum so go easy on me. This fall I will be a freshman at Columbia and intend to major in chemE. However, i want to get a job as an ibanker with a BB after i graduate and was wondering, how early do i need to start getting internships? Some people told me that you need to start freshman year but others say i just need to nail one my junior-senior summer. Ive tried searching on this site for the definitive answer but i couldnt find it.
