Things to know for a SA for S/T interview

Forgive if this has already been answered, my search must have not been up to par, but I would like to know if anyone could give some tips as to what banks would expect a non-finance major to know when interviewing for a summer position in S/T.

Thank you

Sophomore Summer

I have a contact who is an associate at JPM, and he is going to try to get me an interview for their Honors program. I know its tough to get into so I was wondering what would be a good, feasible alternative, for this summer (my sophomore summer) to help in trying to attain an SA position in s/t for next summer. I am at a top 10 eng./science school w/ a 3.8, but its a non target.

Any Advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello, I am a sophomore in Computer Engineering at Purdue. I really like programming, but our curriculum calls for a lot of course work in electrical engineering as well and I hate it. I really have an interest in a finance related career but I can't decide between S/T or IBD. Anyways, I was wondering if it would be better to stick out Comp.

Career Fairs

Hey guys, I am an engineering student at Purdue, and as you all know, that is not a target at all. I do, however, have friends at U of Chicago, Northwestern, and U Mich. Could I make the trip to some of these schools career fairs to talk to some recruiters from the BBs, or is that frowned upon???

Thanks

New Analyst Hiring

I was wondering, if it takes you more than 4 years to graduate whether or not you can still be recruited as a new grad or whether they don't like this in the industry. Because I am an engineering major, I want to take a minor which may stretch me to 5 years, and I was wondering if this is a bad thing?

Thanks

HR contacts

Hey guys,

I have a 3.8 gpa at a top 10 engineering school, but our business is school is a non-target top 30. I want to know, is there anyway to get contact info for hr departments at some BB and MM firms so I can send some emails out early, before the recruitment process begins. My school doesn't really have a huge alumni base in IB but I have contacted an associate at a BB and he's going to try to help me along, but I know that isn't enough. Also, I was wondering if I should join SEO, or whether I could since I'm a non business school major.

Classes to help

I know this may be a tired subject...but if anyone could give me some insight on what classes to take to aide me in getting into ibanking. I am an industrial engineering major and trying to decide to take econ, or accounting classes as electives. Also, are there any alums from Purdue on here that may be able to share their stories of how they made it w/ me, that would be great.
