Analyst Training Excel Sheets Online

Hey guys,
Check this out. I was doing some research on ING Barings (now defunct), and I found this webpage that includes their analyst training program online. Given the amount of chatter on this board regarding modelling training, I thought you guys would want to look at it. I'm not in IBD, so I don't know how relevant these files are, enjoy,

http://pages.stern.nyu.edu/~cliu/barings.html

SHOULD I TAKE THIS OFFER!?!?!

I work for a BB shop (think McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King). So I only want other BB analyst advice. If don't work for a non-BB like White Castle

I’ve been an analyst with McDonald’s for two years in their French Fries Origination and Principle Investing division. So far my P&L is looking real good because I’m really good at guessing when clients will walk in through the door, so I know exactly when to take proprietary positions and increase my inventory of French Fries. This event-driven origination strategy has been kicking ass so far and my MD has been really impressed with my speculative abilities and I’m producing a large chunk of the P&L on my desk, or maybe kitchen counter is more appropriate. In fact I’m so good, that my hourly salary just got bumped up to $7/hour from $6.80. My real want to work in the exotics structuring desk where they produce complex products like burgers with two meat patties. Clients seem to enjoy the level of innovation in these burgers and will pay a significant premium for a customized product. But they don't have any openings as of now so I don't know what to do.

Analyst transferring into Hedge Funds

I work for a BB shop (think McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King). So I only want other BB analyst advice. If you work for a non-BB like White Castle, you might as well commit suicide now and hang your head in shame. If you ever dare to apply here as a second year analyst I’ll shred your resume.

I’ve been an analyst with McDonald’s for two years in their French Fries origination and trading division. So far my P&L is looking real good because I’m really good at guessing when clients will walk in through the door, so I know exactly when to take proprietary positions and increase my inventory of Fries. This event-driven origination strategy has been kicking ass so far and my MD has been really impressed with my speculative abilities and I’m producing a large chunk of the P&L on my desk. In fact I’m so good, that my hourly salary just got bumped up to $7/hour from $6.80. My real dream is to work in the exotics structuring desk where they produce complex products like burgers with two meat patties. Clients seem to enjoy the level of innovation in these burgers and will pay a significant premium for a customized product. I hope that one day my dream will come true.

Rookie Mistake - READ AND LEARN

Hey everyone,
I work for a non-BB investment bank (think SocGen, HSBC, BNP, BofA). So here's something awful that happened to me on Friday while on a call. All of you who are interning/starting (rookies) need to read this and make a mental note of it.

There was a conference call scheduled at 1PM. This conference call was about an upcoming project that I was leading (obviously, as an analyst, the project I was leading was not overly important). Anyway, the office admin who scheduled it on Outlook never included a reminder! Usually, when you're scheduled in for something, the admin is nice enough to include a reminder 5 minutes before the event. I was spacing out while writing a pitch book/doing industry research and at 1:07 I got an angry email from the MD leading the call in NY. The email's subject was: ARE YOU PLANNING ON JOINING THIS CALL?

Hey everyone,
I've been following this forum now for a while and have always secretly wanted to post. I saw this article in the Times and thought it was remarkable. I don't know if anyone else is following financial services M&A activity (unless, of course, you work for a merger arb hedge fund!). But have you guys seen the amount of buyout speculation that is HSBC related?
