What can you do if you don't make it into consulting

I really hope this day doesn't come, but lets say that I don't get into the top management consulting firms out of undergrad (which is highly possible), what other high-paying jobs can I get in the biz industry with a degree in Econ (and maybe CS)?

anyone know about the companies on this list for management consulting?

http://depts.washington.edu/careers/job-intern/complist.php

I found that list on the UW website, and I was wondering if anyone sees any management consulting firms besides MTG Management consultants on it.

My second question is, since I know that MTG probably isn't a super reputable firm like MBB, if I were to go to UW, would getting recruited by a company like this be of any use? Would firms like this allow you to go to a good MBA program?

Boston College For Recruiting?

Does anyone know how well BC does compared to schools like Tufts, Boston university and such for consutling? I might like living in Boston or the south, so does BC do well in recruiting in the Boston area?

Backup Careers in case one doesn't get into consulting?

Hi,

I was wondering what possible backup careers are possible to those that don't get into a top management consulting firm? Although I'm a senior, I'm planning on going to Michigan or USC and getting a double degree in economics and accounting, so what can I do if I don't get into McKinsey?

Obviously I can do accounting, but I'm not sure (and correct me if I'm wrong) if one can make 6 figures in accounting. I'd like to make between 120-150k, and I'm just not sure if thats possible.

Difficult to break into trading?

IT Consulting

Hi,

I was wondering how IT consulting compares to Management/strategy consulting in terms of pay and hours. I like technology as well as business, so IT consulting seems like a good fit, but is the pay similar to MC? I know it would be less, but is it still possible to make around 150-200k after bonuses fairly soon? Are the hours as bad as well, because, although I do like consulting, I don't want to have a job where I can't see family at all because I'm constantly traveling. Its not that I get fatigued by travel, but not seeing family for 3 months regularly doesn't seem very good once you're married, so does IT consulting have as bad hours as MC?

USC and Michigan = good for non BB I-Banking?

Hi,

I was wondering if a person has a chance of doing I-banking from USC or Michigan? I'm not necessarily looking at just the Bulge Bracket, so is it possible to get a job at a non-bulge bracket at one of these schools?

Also, for people who don't get into the bulge bracket of banks, do they still make decent money, or is I-banking just known for high salaries in the bulge bracket sector? I'm
