How does office ranking work?

Hey everyone. I'm going to be applying for a summer internship at an MBB and we're given three choices to rank our office preferences. Does anyone know how this works? Do they send your application to the three offices or only to the first? I speak Japanese and have work experience related to Japan, which I think would be most appreciated at the Japanese office. However, I would much rather prefer to work in the States, so if I put Japan as my third choice, while putting (probably more competitive) US offices as my first two, how would this work in terms of my application/interviews, etc? What to take away from no-name boutique internship?

I'm a rising junior at a target and am interning at a no-name, M&A boutique, hoping to land an SA BB stint (IBD) next summer. My question is, what will interviewers be expecting that I take away from this internship? On the whole it's been an extremely didactic experience and I've learned quite a lot in a short span of time. Despite this, I'm not doing any quantitative analysis; i.e, no modeling, valuation, etc. Will BBs be expecting a level of technical know-how coming from an IBD internship? Thanks.

Interning at international office -> FT in domestic?

Is it possible to do an M/B/B summer internship in an international office and then do FT in a domestic office, like NYC for example? Notwithstanding exit options, if the ultimate goal is to land an FT at an M/B/B (NYC); would it be better to try and land an MBB internship the summer before or some sort of banking SA experience (BB)?

Also, how difficult would it be for a student coming from a target, fluent in the language of said international office to land a summer internship? Many thanks.

When applying for an SA gig, do BBs keep any information you may have sent in years earlier? For example, would your information sent when applying for a sophomore rotational be available, or are they just looking at your application each time you send it? Thanks

Deadlines for BB summer gigs?

When are the general deadlines for BB internships (summer of junior year)? The reason I ask is because grades aren't received at my school for the fall semester until early January. Thus, if deadlines were before, would companies only be seeing my grades for freshman and sophomore years? Thanks.

Working at an ibanking consulting firm sophomore year?

Would working in an ibanking consulting firm the summer after sophomore year be a legit way to spend the summer if I'm hoping to get an i-banking internship the summer after? Basically I'm asking if I should not be working in consulting this summer.

Investor Services internship

So I'm a sophomore at a target. I've been offered a summer internship at a BB with the "Investor Services" division at one of their non HQ offices. Would such an internship help me land an IB gig next summer after my jr year, or is this just similar to a PWM internship? Thanks a lot.

Working at a think tank summer after sophomore year?

I'm a second year at an Ivy and an Econ major. Hoping to apply for a number of BB IBD summer stints next year, and so far have managed to land a finance internship during the Fall semester (last semester) doing ER at a no-name brokerage firm, but I still managed to learn a lot.

GPA w/ double major

I'm double majoring in economics and political science at a target. My overall GPA is around 3.56 - i'm averaging around an A/A- in my polisci courses and about a B+/B in my econ courses. My question is, do companies look specifically at where (class wise) your grades are, or do they simply look at the overall GPA?

Hey everyone - I have a choice this semester between taking macroecon or intro to accounting and finance. For the purposes of potential ibanking internships in the coming year ('08), which would you suggest I take? Do companies even look at your coursework that closely when looking through intern applications Mind you, I'm still a sophomore. Really appreciate any input on the matter. Thanks
