what're some positive books to read about banking?

so i've read monkey business, the accidental investment banker, liar's poker, and noticed a common theme of "banking/trading is greedy, useless, boring and not what it used to be." frankly, these books kind of make me feel bad about choosing this profession.

are there any banking books that are positive and would actually make me look forward to working for a bank in a few months?

I used to use firepay, then that got shut down. What's a legal, reliable way to buy in?

Housing Arrangements for FT Training

I'm at a regional and will be training in NY for 6 weeks. How does housing for this period usually work? My company says they will contact me in the spring about it, but is housing paid for, or will I have to finance it?

Which IB group best prepares for VC

Would you consider M&A to be the ideal product group to work in if one wants to go into VC? Would joining a restructuring or industry group also be a good option?

Exit Opps for GS FICC, Equity IB Strategies

Does anyone know about this? An entry-level position for this appeared on my school website. It seems very math- and programming-based, which seems cool because I'm a math and econ major, and I've done C++ programming. Does anyone know anything about this position? What are the exit opps and what is the workload/pay?

Putting new internship on the resume

So I will be applying for an entry-level IBD job this fall, and I recently accepted an offer to intern at an independent research firm over the fall. As this will be my only real finance experience before I graduate, it is kind of important to emphasize. However, describing it on my resume will be hard, since I don't actually start the internship until late September (banks recruit at my semi-target~target in October).

Fall Internship for a Senior?

I'm a rising senior and I'm interested in landing an IB job after graduation, either a BB or MM, but I don't have any finance work experience. I have very good grades and go to a target/semitarget (depending on whom you ask) and have spent the summer working for a fairly prestigious government department. Would landing a fall internship in finance, either at a boutique IB or equity research, help

Does a summer internship w/ the government help/hurt?

Hey, everyone,

I'm a rising senior who is interested in landing an IB job at a BB. My grades are really good, I go to a reputable school, but I'm kind of new to the IB scene, and I'm spending this summer as an intern at the Department of State. I'm working with economic policy, although there really isn't any number work involved; it's mostly just writing memos and reports and such.

My question is, does this experience put me at a disadvantage when applying for IB jobs in the fall, since it isn't a summer analyst IB internship? A State internship is pretty prestigious in the gov't sector, but I'm not sure if that translates to finance.
