Youngest MD...!

What's the youngest age of MD that you know of, or have in your dept. ?

I've heard of a MD at RBC who became MD at the age of 27 - 28. But he was in S&T though.

HeadHunters

I'm trying to make a move from a Middle Market Firm to a BB or some recognized boutique where I will actually be doing some M& A work. I was recommended by someone to go through some of the recognized head hunters. Any thoughts/ideas/comments on that?

Consulting V.S. IB

Ok so here's a question, NOT REGARDING THE PAY, as there must have been numerous threads about that.

What I'm curious to find out is "who gets to learn the real work". For instance, a consultant at McKinsey who's been doing consulting for the media industry for say, 10 years. How better would his understand be of the businesses of his clients and his industry compared to an investment banker who's been focusing on Media industry for his entire career.

WEB 2.0

I read a few articles in which they reffered to high priced websites (like facebook, youtube, and Myspace) as Web 2.0 valuations (businessweek for example).

By Web 2.0, do they mean that the Tech Bubble is kind of coming back.....

Google and Yahoo's advertising revenue is more than that of ABC anf FOx combined.

Youtube was was sold for 1.65 billion (overpriced according to a lot of people).......

Parents calling up IB employers

I read this article on the internet where parents acutally go out with their kids to go job hunting.

Thats just stupid..... (in my opinion at least). I wonder if that ever happend to IB employers.

============================================================

CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- Some parents are writing their college-age kids' resumes. Others are acting as their children's "representatives," hounding college career counselors, showing up at job fairs and sometimes going as far as calling employers to ask why their son or daughter didn't get a job.

Neogtiating Salary

I was recently offered a 55K job starting at a MM bank. I wanted to know if its possible / good idea to try to negotiate my salary. (If yes,...how....what should I say /how to neogitate). The bad thing is that this is the only offer I have had so far. I need to give them an answer by this Wednesday.

Also, once I sign a contract / say yes to them, and suppose if I get a better offer some time in the future,..... is it possible to back out from this offer?
