Which President would be the best for Wall Street?

I've read conflicting things about the candidates and their attitudes towards high finance. McCain would be the traditional stalwart as the Republican. But I have also read that most of the banks are supporting Hilary. What do you all think?

Long Term Implications For The Street - Tighter Regulations, Smaller Bonuses

Treasury Secretary Paulson rolled out his plan to increase regulation of the financial industry today. Judging from responses in the media, he definitely got our backs on this one - good to have a former banker in such a prominent position. However, democrats have been making a lot of noise and I don't think we'll be able to slip by without being imposed with much tighter rules and regulations.

Shorting the banks

They got hammered today, but hopefully there's a break so I can pick up some additional positions. I think there's a decent amount of downside left, and I just hope that I can ride it out until finding the right moment to go long. Curious to see what everyone thinks about bank stocks.

Gold

Going through a small correction right now, but where is it headed? I'm thinking that it may hit 1200-1300 before the bubble pops. When the mainstream finance media is just screaming about how gold is the next big thing, you know what lies ahead.

Investing Forum

I was thinking that an investing focused forum where we could discuss recent market trends, economic factors, interesting opportunities, etc. would bring a lot of different perspectives to WSO. I would definitely be interested in seeing what my fellow monkeys were investing in, and in sharing my research and ideas with others.
