How important is the internship?

I will be a senior next year and I am looking to get into i-banking but I am not sure whether I have any chances. I am top 10% in a top 10 school with math and econ major but I have no work experience except for being research assistant at our business school. So would that diminish my chances? Also, I will be graduating after summer school, i.e end of june. Would that be a big problem?

Hi. I am a senior and I am considering a career in trading. I am and econ/math major and am still unsured what kind of products would best fit my qualificaions. I have taken all the required classes for the econ major and thought it was pointless. I don't think I learned anything useful. As for the math, I have taken linear algebra, mult.
