I understand the author has an often funny flair for the dramatic, but how real of a depiction of analyst life is this? Any guesses as to his employer?

My understanding of credit derivatives is clearly limited, but I know success here isn't based on "buy low, sell high." Is there even any chart reading? Do these elite traders just do a series of math calculations to determine when to act?

Will a bank pay for your MBA?

So you start as an analyst. Then, you get your MBA and come back as an associate. If you sign a contract saying that you'll come back, will a bank pay for your MBA? Will any employer (HF/PE) pay for your MBA?

Tell me about boutiques...

Hello, prospective analyst here. If I am not able to work for a BB straight out of undergrad, is it worth my time to take a job at a smaller, boutique investment bank?
How different are the hours?
How different are the salaries?
Are the experiences basically the same?
Do boutiques carry any prestige with business schools?

The answers to any of these questions would help me a lot.
