feeders to top PE funds

I was at a Citi networking event today. A M&A VP told me that their group sends a lot of their 2nd year analysts to top PE funds such as KKR and Blackstone. Can someone confirm this?

- landmark deals
- number of slots available for 2008 analysts

Don't know anything about the M&A space but definitely interested and willing to learn. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I have pretty much decided on where I want to go for FT - a BB bank. The offer there is firm-wide. Will someone provide advice on how to approach each groups to secure a group specific offer for FT? My top three choices are M&A, GIG, and MT. Thanks.
