Black Shoes with Navy Pants

I know there are plenty of fashion/attire threads out there but I haven't seen this spoken about anywhere. What color shoes do you wear with a navy suit? My fiancee seems to think that one should only wear brown shoes with navy pants b/c black doesn't go with navy. however, we've seen a bunch of people in the city walking around with black shoes while wearing navy. do you guys only wear brown shoes w/ navy suits?

also, does anyone wear a raincoat in the summer when it rains or does everyone just grab an umbrella?

with all your help i've been able to put together a great wardrobe at unbelievable prices so thank you guys very much!

Alfani Suits

Hey everyone,

I was just at Macy's and looked at a couple of their Alfani suits. They were regular price $450 on sale b/c of July 4th. Has anyone ever owned an Alfani suit or can anyone coment on their quality? They were being sold alongside Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Joseph Abboud, etc.

Also, would I be better off at Jos A Bank ot with an Alfani suit?

Much thanks.

Hey guys,

Me and a few guys are going 2 vegas for the 1st time in 2 weeks.

So, being that this is our first time, what pointers do you guys have as to great places to check out, gamble, etc.

I'm pretty dam clueless b/c I've never been and don't really gamble or drink (come from a very sheltered religious background) so any and all pointers would be very much appreciated!

Bachrach clothes- good, bad, any impressions?

I'm getting ready to start building my business wardrobe and I stumbled upon a site for Bachrach. I was curious if anyone has bought clothes from them and what their impressions were. Was it good quality? Would you recommend it for a new monkey? Is it equal/similar to Brooks Brothers or other equivalent brand-name clothes?

Here's their website if you want to check it out:
Worried About the Pre-Analyst Assessment Exam

Hey guys,

I just had to take a 60-minute, 67-question Assessment exam for GS. A bunch of the stuff I had never even seen before in any of my classes (I'm not much of a slacker - I have a 4.0 finance & economics double major, 3.87 overall, and won a scholarship as well) so some of the questions I was forced to just guess. Some of the questions were just downright hard.

Pre-Analyst Trip

Hey everyone,

I'm going to be graduating the end of May and starting as an analyst sometime in July so I have pretty much all of June off and want to take a trip w/ a bunch of guys. It can be in US, Europe, anywhere.

Any ideas as to places to visit? Did you guys/gals go on a trips/tours before you started work?

Any ideas/tips/ways as to how to do it on a tight budget?

Thanks!

Business Casual Wardrobe

I know there are plenty of clothing threads, but most/all of them are on business formal attire.

I'll be starting a middle-office position in July at GS and have found out that the dress code is business casual. I went and met with my future co-workers and supervisors and they explained that its just shirt and pants- no jacket and no tie.

So, I'm curious what I should go out and buy. Should I get suits just in case? What kind of shirts should I get? What kinds of pants? Is it just standard/boring white shirt, black pants or what should I look for?

I'm a little lost so any advice is much appreciated!

Thanks!

Did I Misrepresent/Lie On My Resume?

So, I've accepted an offer and am going to go through the background check now.

A little background: I interned at Bear over the summer in Operations Administration. I was based in of their Brooklyn/Metrotech office, but made plenty of trips to the 383 Madison office for various meetings, events, seminars, etc. Anyway, I put on my resume:

Bear, Stearns, & Co., New York, NY
