Can anyone counter the awful things I read about this firm online? A buddy of mine is going to be starting there soon, I hear that it is a "chop shop". And a terrible place to be working. Any info would be very helpful.

Trading seems to be a phrase fraught with ambiguity. It's all very confusing, particularly to a young un-interned undergraduate. I was wondering if we could get an FAQ type sticky going to answer some of the questions.

What type of trading goes on in Sales & Trading at an IBD?

What is proprietary trading vs. day trading?

I emailed a boutique bank to see if they were hiring an analyst FT 08 and got a response from the MD.

The e-mail initially when to either an associate/analyst (no title in his footer)

Who forwarded the e-mail to the MD with the following message:

"The guy knows how to use mail merge..."

I have an interview tomorrow for a Credit Analyst position at a bank. I’m entry level (Graduating next semester), and it’s my third interview (phone). Up to this point it has been strictly behavioral/fit style questions.

I just got dumped from an interview a day before I was supposed to have it (first round). Anyone have a hypothesis as to why?
