Group Selection

What are ways to improve your chances at getting into a group that you want? Anyone have any good do's and dont's about networking events during training for group selection purposes?

I did a search on this topic, but all I really got was talk to people in the group beforehand (don't think that will be possible for me) and do well on your training tests. My question could apply to both bankers and non-bankers, so anyone's advice is welcome.

Undergrad GPA for B-School

Hey everyone,

I just graduated from college, and I'm looking into the future to see what my chances at business school may be down the line if I ever decide to go that route.

My concern is that while I graduated from a target with an engineering major, my cumulative GPA was less than a 3.5, which is definitely on the low side. Assuming I have good work experience and do well on the GMAT, will my undergrad GPA be an obstacle to getting into schools like Columbia or NYU?

Besides work experience and GMAT, are there any other things I should be focusing on in the upcoming years?

Thanks in advance for comments and advice.

Commuting to Work by Taxi

Random question about taxis: is it reasonable to assume that you can quickly get a taxi in NYC really early in the morning, lets say around 6 AM? If not, is there a way to arrange for a taxi to pick you up from a certain location at the same time every day?

NYC Apartment buildings with gyms?

How common are apartment buildings with gyms in NYC? I don't mean luxury buildings or anything like that. If I want to live somewhere that isn't ridiculously expensive (and I'm planning to live with three other guys), is it realistic to look for buildings that have a gym (i.e. treadmills, weight-lifting benches, etc.)? Any insight on this would be very helpful. Thanks!

Questions about CFA

I'm a senior in college, and I'm considering taking the CFA level 1 exam in June. I have a few questions though that I couldn't easily find the answers to after searching WSO

1) Where would I get the official reading material for the level 1 exam?

Manhattan Housing

When you're searching for housing in Manhattan using various sites, such as citi-habitats.com for instance, there are a lot of sweet listings that don't have exact addresses listed but do have brokers as contacts. So if you are interested in one of these places and call the broker contact, what kinds of fees do you have to pay to the broker? Is it only if you end up taking it?

Hey guys, I'm asking this for a friend

What is the general reputation of Oliver Wyman Financial Services? How do the exit opps compare to ibanking at a NYC boutique? Also, what's the travel like? What percentage of time do you spend out of NYC?

Thanks
