I'm interested in these two relatively new, novel products. Which firms dominate the market? Thank you in advance.

MS Strategy & Execution Group

Does anyone know what work and culture is like in this group?

Sounds a lot like consulting with the leverage of being able to consummate recommendations in transactions. Does this translate into bankers' hours? Consultants' traveling? etc..

Many thanks!

GS PIA analyst

I'm curious as to what hours are like for analysts in the merchant banking/PIA: closer to IBD or Research? And how much traveling, if at all?

Thanks in advance.

Goldman S&T

From what I gather, analysts at Goldman go 2-3 years in their analyst roles. Does this mean they make no trades until associate level thereafter? And, following this timeline, am I to understand that traders at Goldman hit the big money a few years later than other BBs and strong S&T shops like MS, CS, and BarCap?

who's tearing it up in this market?

What desks are raking it in, what desks are hurting, and what desks are relatively unaffected by the volatility and/or downward pressure on the equity markets, the dollar, and the intensification of the credit problem? Obviously there's a short side to every long, so I'd be interested to learn who's able to profit most from such turmoil - individual, ballsy traders? or certain groups in general?
