Citi Comms - how good are they?

I heard they are one of the strongest Telecom groups on the street. Is this still the case? My friend is interning there for the summer and he said the group is absolutely one of the best on the street in terms of deal flow and high profile transactions. Btw..how good is Citi's M&A practice? are they just another outsourcing group?

Which one of the BBs has the best FIG group on the Street? So far, I've heard GS, Citi, and JPM..in that order. Can someone confirm this? Also, which silo (banks or asset management and insurance) will offer new analyst the best deal experience and exit opportunity (ex: JC flowers, KKR, or Carlyle) going forward? Thanks.

Senior last semester GPA.

I just graduated from a target. My questions is how important is your last semester grade to banks, PE, and Bschools? I will be starting in June at a BB - think UBS, C, or ML...still have not been placed into a group. Will my sudden drop in GPA affect my placement into top groups? PE interviews? and Bschool admissions? My cumulative GPA is hovering around 3.67. Before the last semester, it was near 3.8. Many of you on this board have mentioned that GPA doesn't really matter. However, I would like to get your views given current market conditions. Thanks all.

Real Estate IB group

What do analysts actually do in a BB RE & lodging group? Do they analyze development projects? acquire buildings for their clients? zoning..entitlement? just can't seem to figure out why IB is needed other than financing. Can someone comment on this? Also, if you want to become a RE developer, will you learn anything transferable from RE banking?

How hard is it for analysts to move around among the BBs? Ex: Lehman to GS, Citi to MS, JPM to GS, etc. Will the move hurt his or her chances of getting into a PE after 2 years? and do they have to start over as first years again? thanks

Can anyone (preferrably current analysts) comment on their experiences with the group placement process? Did you guys get the group of your choice? or top three choices? If so, did you have to reach out to the groups prior to training in order to secure your group placement? Any advice is greatly appreciated!!

I have accepted an IB offer from a prestigious BB. I've been told by many to keep following up with the people there, especially bankers in the top groups that you wanted to join. Does it mean that I have to email each banker I know every month to make sure they know who I am and where I want to be placed?
