Oil- fundamentals or speculation?

Are current oil prices (primarily) a reflection of underlying fundamnetals (supply/demand) or speculation? I've heard intelligent people come down on both sides but not enough good, fact-based arguments. If it is primarily speculation, what range should fundamentals based oil be in?

Will banking recover? How long?

Hey. Just trying to get some perspective on this issue because I've heard conflicting reports. A lot of people say nothing like this has ever happened before and banking will never see another 2006. Others say this is nothing compared to tech bubble, savings and loans, etc... I've had senior level bankers weigh in on both sides.

I realize the overall economic impact of the current situation is relatively shallow, but I don't have the numbers/knowledge to put the impact on financial services into perspective.

Just how bad is this ****? Will banking do a full recovery? Half recovery? Any recovery? How long will it take? Which sectors are probably gone forever?

What's up with Math?

YES, I do know various posts have been made about how much math you need for IB. Yes, I know the answer is a reasonably intelligent 7th grader could do it. The thing is, I always hear people saying that this or that recruiter say if you want to be in finance take as much math as possible. I've always assumed this is prove how smart you are but seriously...

Hey all, here's my situation:
I'm a sophomore at a non-target. I was thinking about majoring in math, finance, and statistics (no its not that bad). However, its possible for me to get a masters in finance while majoring in math and statistics in 4 yrs. I'm trying to decide whether I should do this, considering:
