best account for preferred?

Hi
I know there have been a few posts on here about the best brokerage account for stocks but does anyone here trade preferred stock?
I see a few opportunities arising now and would like to get into this.
Any recommendations on preferred stock brokers?

Any debt-traders on here? What platform do you use? I've started looking at that too.

Clean Tech IB

So I just wanted to know everyone's thoughts on clean energy-related IB. Most clean-energy companies are small now but, imo, will be huge in the future.
I think there will be a massive clean tech boom similar to the dotcom boom but it will be more sustainable (pardon the pun).

Just wanted to hear you guys say something about your outlook on this industry and how a prospective might try orienting his/her IB career around it.

Way too soon?

Some MM boutiques have already started posting internship positions for summer 09. Is it too soon to apply now?

I'm a sophomore and, given the recruiting fears, don't hold out much hope for BB recruitment.

If I applied and got the job, is it allowed to renege at a later time, say if I tried to go for a better offer?

Of course, just asking about possibilities - haven't actually even applied yet.

quitters never lose?

hey, I'm a rising sophomore stuck in an extremely depressing insurance internship. I have to analyze 15+ page long insurance contracts for minute differences and spend hours just doing VBA programming in excel trying to get at market penetration.
Very bored and hate insurance so much now. Don't think I'll be burning bridges if I leave but still. I've worked for 5 weeks and have done work that I can talk about in interviews for next summer.

I really want to quit but don't know if it would harm me too much.

I'm planning on just chilling out and studying investing (I know next to nothing now) for the rest of the summer.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

Are quants going to crush me?

I'm a college student interesting in going into trading. I've gotten the general idea that most trading desks out there don't require quants. But my question is whether quants are becoming more and more popular? And do you think they will eventually be dominating most trading jobs?

do extracurriculars matter?

I'm a freshman at a target school. I see a lot of conflicting information about whether ECs matter to finance interviewers.

Some people say that only GPA is considered but some say that ibanks place a lot of importance on ECs too.

If you do think that they are important, what kinds of clubs do you think ibanks prefer?

Thank you.
