Citi vs Lazard

I have offers from both of them for M&A in Western Europe; I would be working in London and Paris. Which one gives better placement into PE? Anyone have first-hand experiences?

Lazard in Europe

I know that in the US, Lazard is generally considered to be equal to GS/MS IBD in terms of compensation, prestige and exit opps.

But what about Lazard in Europe? Is it equally strong? Does it have good placement into top buyout funds in Europe?

From McK to BB after 1 year

I was just thinking: if you do one year full-time at McK/BCG/Bain and then apply for BB IBD, do you stand a chance of being classified as a 2nd year Analyst? Or will they just say that your consulting experience is not relevant and you have to start as a 1st year?

Anyone ever switched to IBD from M/B/B after one year?

S&T Rotation Program

Are most S&T programs rotation programs, where you test out a couple of different desks during your two years, or do you get assigned to a specific desk and then stay there the entire 2-year period?

Can a trader specialize in more than one product?

I have the opportunity to join the Rotational Analyst program of a top BB - that program allows you to spend your first two years on two different desks. Is it useful/possible for a young trader to specialize in two products, or is it better to focus on only one product early on?

Would exit opps to hedge funds be different coming from such an rotational program, as opposed to the usual "one-desk" Analyst program?

Does anybody know what to study in preparation for a Structured Credit Sales Interview? I have read about Credit Default Swaps, CDOs, Credit-linked notes and total return swaps. What else should I know?

Pay in Structured Credit Sales

Hi,

What is the earnings potential for someone in Structured Credit Sales at a top BB? You hear a lot about how much traders are making as associates and VPs, but what about the salespeople in the more complex credit products?

Anyone have actual comp data?

How difficult is it to break into top buyout funds coming from McK, as opposed to coming from GS/MS/other BBs. Any first-hand experiences?? Are there large funds that don't take ex-McK people at all?
