What is the "view" of prop trading firms in NYC?

I am late to the party to try and land a gig at a big firm on the trading desk, but something about joining a prop shop makes me think I can rise faster.

How is this type setup viewed?
What are the exit opps?
How well would you place into a top mba if you decided to go back to school?

MM and smaller IB shops recruiting?

Do any firms continue to recruit in January thru early spring? or are most NYC IB shops done recruiting for the year?

Should you just apply to the position you want the most, or is it ok to apply to a number of positions?

I am wanting to make a move from retail advising into IB. I graduated from a top 40 university with a 3.75 and after school, played pro baseball for a year. I have been in retail advising for the last 1.5 years, and am wanting to get an analyst role in IB for 2 years and then head to MBA land. (25 years old)

I am willing to move anywhere, and am just starting to look.

How to paste resume???

I am applying for a job through the companies website.

I uploaded my resume, like it asked for, and after filling in all the application info, there is a little box at the bottom that says "cut and paste your resume here".

Well, mine is already inside the box, but the formatting is all messed up. Is that to be expected? How do you handle this?

I have found a few positions in IB as an analyst that are freshly posted on the companies websites. (These are smaller MM shops. Not located in NYC)

My question is this:
Is it worthwhile to submit my resume through the companies online "careers section"? I am trying to find a contact who may know someone on the inside, but if that does not happen, I dont want the position to be filled...

I am 2 years out of school, and have not been exposed to the type of info that may be asked during an ib analyst interview since my college classes.

I have a potential job situation which I think could turn into a solid opportunity. Through some contacts, I have been put in touch with 2 guys who have just started a PE fund (roughly around 100 million in capital after 6 months). One of the partners is coming from running a successful HF and the other has been working in the private banking space with HNW clients.

Usefullness of a CFA

Quick Question:

If you plan on getting your MBA, but are looking to work 2-3 years before going back to school, what are your thoughts on starting your CFA?

This is of course figuring you have the extra time to work on it? The reason I am asking, is I have a friend who is a 1st year analyst and he is working on his before office hours, and it got me to thinking...
