Hedge Fund Sales & Marketing

What do you think are the skills required for such a job? What kind of skills would one acquire in a position like that? What would the exit options be like or how hard is it to transition to the other departments? I would be interested to hear from people that have been or are in such a role however, all opinions are appreciated.

Thank you.

I need serious advice

So I have been applying around and I got a couple of interviews but they are just so obscure. I have no idea why these people pick me for these positions. And at the same time I have no luck with positions I believe my experience is more suited for. I am confused and I am really tired of people telling me, after looking at my resume, that it is good and I will get the interview. There is definitely something wrong about the way I am selling myself with this resume but I can’t figure it out. I was wondering if someone here, who is not in college and preferably is very critical can give me an advice or take a pick at my resume. I know everyone is busy but I really need one critical and honest opinion.

Investment Banking in Europe

I have a question about IB in Europe. In general I was told the process there is much more quantitatively based. I mean everyone applies online, there are screening tests, grades, majors, and experience are much more important than the particular school you go to. In Europe we don't rank schools, there are just very few "well ranked" universities and my friends told me the market is right now very hot. Investment banks hire most of their summer interns even if they didn't perform outstandingly just because they can't find enough people. Is this true? If one is studying in the US (but is European) would banks mind calling him/her for an interview here in the US for a job in Europe?

Wall Street's Green Christmas

Investment-Firm Bonuses to Rise 10% to 20%
After Year of Soaring Revenues, Profits.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB116286891487215199.html?mod=home_whats_n...

There was a nice table but I couldn't copy it in. However, investment banking analysts were missing from the table.

Do bonuses in general increase by 10-20% per year regardless of overall performance?
I know last year they were 85/105/125 at most places, are you expecting to top 100 for a first year analyst this year?

Do a number of internships / jobs dilute your resume

I have to be honest I have had like 4 internships and 3 jobs during my undergrad. Not that I changed them or got fired. My internships just ended and I changed only 1 job after my freshmen year for a better one. My internships I believe show gradual progression (all are in commercial banks, accounting, investments and VC) but who knows and my jobs well, 1 was investment related the other 2 unrelated.

So how full are the classes by now?

Hi guys and girls,

I was wondering if pretty much there are still any spots for analysts at the BBs or any MM, or boutique you might know, or is everything pretty much over? I was told by Lehman, by probably 5-6 people, that they are full, maxed out, no spaces. Also another BB told me that they are taking only kids with internship experience (meaning prior internship specifically in IBD). I have an internship at another BB but although it was under the IB division it was in hedge funds. So they said they would forward my resume to other groups, if those groups still have places.
