LPAC Seats

So... I am a year out of my MBA working with a UHNW family office in NYC and I got an LPAC seat for a small but somewhat established growth-stage fund.


My boss kind of made it a big deal and ceremonial.  I always thought these were a bit of a joke and just an excuse for a nice expensed dinner.  Am I missing something?
