Morningstar/MBA to long/short buy-side

With a couple of years as an equity analyst at Morningstar and then a Top 5 MBA, how easy would it be to transition to a mutual fund or long-oriented hedge fund role? How bad is Morningstar's reputation in comparison to BBs/brokerage research houses? Thanks.

Doable assuming H/S/W/CBS/Booth and that you’re putting in the work to get in front of people with your ideas

I am a career switcher (not an impressive pre-MBA job for buy side) and wound up at a large LO from one of the above schools. You should get at least the same or better looks than me, and if you work hard it’s totally doable.

It gets significantly harder if you are not at those programs
