Looking to lateral in as an experienced hire from a Bulge Bracket Bank to MBB — Help

Hey all, did my MBA a year ago and have been working in IB for the last 9 months. Really don’t enjoy the scope of work and have been regretting my decision. I was strongly between recruiting for IB and consulting entering business school, and really wish I had done the former. I’m wanting to make a move into the space, but not sure that MBB is doing any hiring at the time. Located in NY and would prefer to stay in NY but would honestly be open to other cities if I had to. Any help would be great. Thanks.

To expand on the above - are these firms in hiring freezes. I’m really not even interested in the PE finance scope of work that consulting firms do. Would love to get in the door and be exposed to industries/projects that would be outside of the realm of doing DD. Given I just finished b school (top 10ish school) a year ago, would this be an option? Or if I was coming in as an “experienced” hire the expectation would be financial services and PE projects. More importantly, is hiring even an option right now, given how deep benches are

bad timing.  they'd normally be open (if they were hiring) but you'd basically be an incoming MBA, you wouldn't get credit for your 1Y in IB

The truth is you're the weak. And I'm the tyranny of evil men. But I'm tryin', Ringo. I'm tryin' real hard to be the shepherd.

I am definitely fine going in getting no credit for my year in IB. But you’re making it sound like there is no chance of lateralinf even with that being taken into consideration

use your mba network.  they should know the folks who lead recruiting in their offices.
