What if you dont get a consulting internship for the summer during MBA?

So say worst comes to worst and you dont get an internship at MBB or a top (Deloitte LEK monitor etc) 2nd tier firm -- what are some of the best things you can do to present yourself for MBB recruiting the second year? Since MBB hire more ful time than they do for internships, I have a sense this is a very common 'what now' question that many have to ask. Other than staying in touch with the top tier firms yo uwant to work for full time and giving face time, are there any specific summer internships that would be beneficial? I have friends who do IBD first and then recruit for consulting bt obviously you can not recruit full time for consulting and IBD simultaneously. What are the best jobs to aim or then? Corp fin internal strategy? Normal corp fin rotationals? Any specific companies that are good 'summer internship' breeders for FT recruiting? thanks as always :D
