What comp should a Senior Corp Dev Analyst request?
Sorta received an offer from a fortune 400 for a Sr analyst position in their corporate development group. The hiring manager said they "now have to figure out what to pay me". I have 3 years of long-only experience.
The other analysts here used to be senior associates at JPM, Harvard grads, etc. the usual suspects. I do not have this type of target background.
Seems like the general consensus is $150k all in, 100-120k base, 10-20k bonus, 10-20k stock.
Is this what I should be expecting?
Are senior IB associates (current employees) really taking this type of comp cut for sr analyst corp Dev roles?
Not saying I wouldn't be okay with $150k (would be a pay cut - lifestyle decision) but I imagine there will be some negotiation and I want to set my expectations.

150k all in seems high but not completely unrealistic for someone with 3 years of only somewhat relevant work experience (assuming no B school) It also seems odd that you would start off with the same title the senior associate from JPM (unless they weren't in IBD beforehand)
Agreed, hence some of my confusion on where negotiations could go and what is realistic.

im at a large public firm (s&p 500 component) and post MBA my base in corporate strategy / development is $100. I'm not sure about year end bonus or stock but doubt it's anything near your numbers. My numbers are below market but I'm also in a very low cost of living city.

I would & plan to focus more on your opportunity cost than the comps.
As Guest alluded to, I think it also depends on where the job is located, I'd say that's probably reasonable in NYC/SF but probably closer to $100K in most other cities at the Sr Analyst level.
I just went through this sort of negotiation for a senior analyst role. I am in Houston - I have three years of (unrelated to energy) ECM experience at a BB in NY, and 2 years of oil & gas IBD experience in Houston. I asked for and got $120k base + 20 - 25% bonus (works out to ~$150k all in). I had an IBD associate offer in hand though ($150k base) - so essentially my strategy was to tell them that I knew that my IBD bonus wouldn't be replicated in corp dev, as the hours / payscale is less, but I thought I was worth at least replicating my IBD base salary. Also worth noting I told them I would consider the job at a base salary of $100k or up, and $120k was my definitely accept number.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I wanted to follow up. Offer came in at $85k +15%. Negotiated to $100k + 25%, still have not officially sent in acceptance.
What region are you in and is 25% sign on or year end?
Southeast, 25% year end. No sign on. That said, I increased the high end of the bonus under the assumption that it would require higher performance to get there. So we will see where that lands.
