Should I pull and "Incoming Analyst" or No?

Going into credit after graduating and I am thinking of updating my LinkedIn profile.

I want to spare my connections the nonsense of "I am thrilled to announce..." or the annoying new-job push notification, but I do want to know if it's a taboo to update my current job as "Incoming Analyst" at __.

Any thoughts?

Waiting until you have started the role is always the way. To be honest no one in your network really cares and youve already landed the role so just sit tight. I.e., you arent sharing anything of value. No one will contact you due to the new role because you haven't actually started anything, and its not like you're currently searching for jobs so your LinkedIn doesn't need to be as up to date as possible.

Lastly, I have always found it cringeworthy when kids update their LinkedIn to "Incoming" anything. You simply dont do that in the real world. Imagine if A2s were updating their LI to "Incoming Associate at UMM PE Fund", like they would get laughed out the door on day one.

You can spare them the post and notification depsite not updating your status to incoming analyst. Just add the role when you’ve actually started, turn off notify nerwork and don’t make the post.

Be introspective about your interest in even doing this. More than likely this comes from an underlying sense of insecurity or need for attention. You should deal with that.
