Is a 2-vent/side vent suit appropriate in a professional setting?
Incoming MBA student. I haven't ever had to wear suits for work, so right now I only have one well-fitting suit (lost a lot of weight after college so that older ones weren't really tailorable). Current suit is charcoal and I want to pick up a navy. I'm in pretty good shape and was thinking about getting a side vented suit. Would this stand out too much/look weird when interviewing or at work?
It's fine. I wear both side-vent and center-vent suits.
Just make sure it fits well.
two vents > one. looks immeasurably better.
qft.
Wrong question. You should be asking if one-vent suits are appropriate.
2 vents are the standard these days.
This thread is classic self selection: anyone who cares posts, and hence knows suits and how crap single vent looks.
Side vent is the only way to go these days. I haven't even seen a single vent suit on anyone under 50 in a few years.
Single-vent suits still serve a purpose though. If you have a big ass that sticks out, a side-vented jacket will make it look like your suit has a butt-flap or something. Single-vented suits are preferable in this situation. For everyone else, though, double-vented jackets are the way to go.
This made me laugh
Single vent? I thought they are banned and only allowed for really 'round' people.
Makes absolutely no difference side or center vent. Ignore the idiots in this thread telling you to choose. Totally irrelevant
Whichever one you prefer, doesn't matter
Side vents were more of a European style and viewed as having a custom suit while one vent american and more OTR. This isn't really the case anymore as most OTR suits are double vented and doesn't leave you unique with a custom look. Both work and depending on the body type each have their strengths.
side vents all the way
