Fundamental Edge for non-HF folks?

Hi all - thoughts on Fundamental Edge if you're in IB/PE looking to get into HF? To be honest, interview prep for HF is somewhat overwhelming and a structured course sounds really helpful.

It's $4,500 and obviously my firm won't pay for it. If anyone knows someone in a similar situation who could speak to outcomes / how helpful it was in recruiting, that would be great.

Thank you!

As a junior in a MM, it's really great and it makes sure you have everything to do the job the first years.

However, there is in my view a gap between what FE will give you and what you need to break into a HF

Fundamental Edge will give you the skillset to be a good analyst once you are on the job, but what you need today is more "how can I produce good pitches during interviews?". Ultimately, I think there are cheaper resources to achieve this goal.

If money is not really a topic for you, I'd probably subscribe to the program though.

Anyone have a good picture on the resources that are the to help with pitches during interviews?

Also, any that might help with modelling for the case-study/model round?

You shouldn’t need it, it’s good and can be additive but it’s not actually teaching you the job; if you want to do HF you’re going to need to take a leap of faith here. Make sure your pitches are actionable for MMs, identify the key drivers’ momentum and understand what the expectations gap is on a near term basis.

What you don’t want to do, is pitch a long term view on a company you think has good CF generation and has a cheap multiple

Definitely not made for undergrads. You need a decent technical background.

It's really designed for the lost analyst that is being asked by his new PM "go look at XYZ stock and tell me what you think"..

A small number of undergrads (myself included) usually enroll in his cohorts. Think he mentioned maybe 1-4 normally. But yes, you need to be able to model and understand financial jargon to do it. Definitely helps you contextualize what you learn about hedge fund processes though.
