Hedge Fund Internship Recruiting

I am currently a freshman at a non-target that failed to recruit for freshman year summer. Now, I am extremely motivated to get a legitimate internship for sophomore year summer. I am looking for a paid hedge fund summer analyst role in NYC for summer 2024, and I am obviously open to any strategy. I want to pursue a career in ER and eventually exit into a HF. I am willing to work as hard as I possibly can to land something. I believe I am giving myself an adequate amount of time by starting a year early. What do I need to learn/do this summer to best position myself to get into a role like this? I also live in NJ, so networking in NYC once/twice a week over the summer is no issue at all for me.
