How to break into Macro HF in London?

Currently a 3rd yr Associate at a large BB in London. Have interest moving to a Macro HF (think Citadel, Balyasny, Rokos, Brevan etc) for a junior trader/PM role in London.

I'd assume this is mostly done by recruiters? If so which ones are best if i want to break into one of the above funds? Or do i just reach out to a PM at one of the funds and enquire?

A 3rd year associate isn't getting hired by the fund - he is getting hired by a specific trader or group at the fund. I would think that his relationships from trading are closer than the recruiter who has a general fund level relationship. Honestly, if you are good, recruiters are so overrated for niche jobs like this. 3y + associate and asking questions like this isn't a great indicator though.

How is this thread still going? I gave the answer. If you are qualified, just contact the people you know at the firms with a concrete proposal. If you are not getting asked already, it could be a bad idea to take that much risk.
