How to get to SM HF from IB?

Curious about best practices to get to a seat where one can make long duration concentrated bets. Feel like most common path is IB —> MF, but 4 years of banking lifestyle seems brutal. Are there any common ways to get to public equities from IB without going to PE? Would like to stay on long duration holds not just playing earnings at a pod with weekly P&L
