JP Morgan Investment Banking Analyst Diversified Toronto CA

Creating a thread for the current opening at J Pierpont Morgan in Toronto. I know there is half a thousand applicants so far and chances are next to none but figured we might as well eh

It is for experienced hires - says as much in the application.

Bro who are you? Seriously I see you everywhere LOL. I say that in a good way.

It’s at ~800 applications now and will surpass ~1,000.

Not a chance you get in unless you had a pre-existing (and strong) relationship with someone at the bank, and even then, competition will be very stiff.

No clue what culture is like but the office is small - like 5 people small. They’re trying to build out Canadian presence, so could be a cool opportunity, but I bet it’ll be an absolutely slog.

Have heard the globals in Toronto are sweatyyyyy, I’m sure JPM will be no exception.

Cool, thanks for the insight. I also hear around threads that some BB or maybe it’s EBs, pay USD converted to CAD?! Correct me if I’m wrong cuz that type of pay sounds insane or is it simply USD to CAD equivalent?

You’re probably in a good spot if that’s the case - think rejections universally went out.

Alright kids. I can’t see much suffering of new grads here. If you have no connection to a director or an MD, filling applications doesn’t matter. Postings and applications are only for compliance. Lot of the times, the candidate that gets the offer didn’t even submit an application.

Across all globals in Canada. Probably also the Big 5, but I never worked at one of them.
Either get in a boutique/Big 4 advisory and lateral as experienced.

Or exit Canada.

Ignore the response to this guy's comment - he is right.

I work at a B5 and we get hundreds of applications (which is nothing compared to BBs in Canada) - usually we have a batch of candidates we've already networked with ahead of time, except in exceptional circumstances.

If a BB makes a posting, you can all but guarantee everyone on the inside already has one or two candidates they are putting forward and they are just making the post as a formality (read: obligation).

Has anyone who didn't get declined heard back? Mine still says under consideration.

Kinda odd cause now it’s opened back up

I reapplied when they posted again - got dinged for the second app a few days ago. First one still active - applied w different emails

The Calgary seat has been filled. Someone I know knows who got the seat.

No clue on Toronto.

was the person new grad or had IB experience, only reason I ask is given the language used on the posting it made it seem like it was a new grad.

Do you know if there have been second rounds or just a prolonged first round window?

I had a first-round interview a few weeks ago and heard the process was slow and want to get a pulse check.
