The Top 7 Obvious & Non-Obvious Perks I Was PAMPERED With During My Summer Internship In Investment Banking

Yea the pay is top notch for a 20yr old - but I bet you didn't know that being a banking intern comes with a built in sugar daddy...

I-Banks are paid to give advice. They would be nothing without the brainiacs behind the deals. So, they give some crazy perks to keep all-stars.

Being from a small farm town, I was SHOCKED at the perks they gave me when I interned on Wall St last summer.

1. THE ONES YOU HEAR ABOUT

  • Pay: Most all IB interns were paid ~$25k for 3mo of work
  • Office: Cold brew on tap, Golf simulator, Private outdoor terrace...
  • Lifestyle: $35 Uber Eats stipend / night, gym & massage monthly stipend, Paid Ubers home in evening & to/from office on weekends
  • Events: Boat cruise Hudson river, pro chef cooking competition, an insane number of rooftop happy hours

2. ONES YOU DON'T HEAR ABOUT

  • Sugar Daddies: This one takes explaining...

I-Banks pay online document protectors called "virtual data rooms" (VDRs) to keep all of a company's secret files safe.

The I-Bank is the middle man of communicating the information to the people that want to buy that company and can't risk leaking info.

The VDRs are all super similar, so they get I-Banks to choose theirs over others by taking bankers out clubbing / tickets behind home plate at Yankees games / etc...lots of fun as an intern

  • New Stories to Tell: You talk to so many business owners that are whack jobs and hear all of their insane stories
  • Instant Network: Built in bestfriends with your intern class + Global network of current firm employees/alum that will GUARANTEED respond to your emails if you would ever want to connect with them

MAIN TAKEAWAY - "Wolf of Wall St" is not that much of an exaggeration.

Please stop posting already, it is becoming increasingly obvious that you've never worked a day in investment banking.
