What does it take to become an analyst at a top tier boutique?

Hi, I'm a student at Wharton and I think I am most interested in the atmosphere at the top tier boutiques like Lazard and Blackstone.

What does it take to get an analyst position at these places? Thanks.

but a bit more emphasis on fit. I know Blackstone's M&A group usually has very few summers, so a top BB summer would help for lateralling.

Other than that the same things, ecs, GRADES, internships. Boutiques tend to give more responsibility to analysts - so being self-motivated would help and in my BS M&A interview they really stressed why pure M&A / why such a small group.

I'd say 3.75+ for summer. Depending on your summer experience full-time grades don't matter as much. I had a 3.85 but didn't go to Wharton and got an offer, so I'm assuming that a Wharton 3.8 would be more than enough considering it's one of their two main targets (with Harvard). UVA, Texas etc are other targets as well.

I don't mean to pry, but can you tell me some of your other accomplishments that helped you land such a competitive position.
