Why do I only get interviewed for SF/Bay Area IB, whenever I apply to a firm
Hi,
Whenever I apply to a firm, I only get interviewed for their Bay Area office. I was kind of excited to possibly work in New York, but I like the Bay a lot as well. My only prior finance experience is in VC, and as a product management intern. Why do I only get interviewed for SF IB whenever I apply to a firm? Is it because they assume I'm interested in tech? Could this mean my resume and stuff isn't really strong for IB since I never get NY interviews and only Bay Area interviews because of my past experience?
I'm the opposite of you. I'm from the Bay Area but go to school in the northeast. I applied to roles at home and near my school and my response rate is significantly higher when applying to east coast roles. Ideally, I want to intern in the Bay and get to commute from home instead of dealing with a complicated living situation but it's not going in my favor at the moment.
litterally opposite, go to school on west coast but from northeast. it would be nice, but i don't particularly want to work in new york though.
Yes, very much the case. You probably already know this, but Tech transactions are valued and understood differently to more traditional industries. Recruiting for other groups may be an uphill battle for you.
I'm the same way, tons of SF/LA stuff landing in my email. SF offices are empty and looking to fill seats. I hope you like boba.
