GS TMT vs GA

Hey all, wanted to say first of all super fortunate for receiving these offers. I was torn between the two and would love some advice, obviously GS will give me more optionality but GA is prob on of the best analyst programs in growth. Long term I think I wanna do VC/Growth.

if you can take insight I would take that over GA.

GA Analyst per my friends there are mainly doing sourcing. No touching the model and no upward mobility since promotions are not gauranteed. Would take GS TMT

Saw an analyst at GA spend a summer at GS -> 2 years at GA -> Sequoia as a “partner”. Heard that if you source a deal you get to stay on it at GA. Also heard Insight has been doing pretty poorly fund wise and not sure what it’s rep is like on the street.

GA last fund was like 8 billion and Insight's was 20 billion. also, insight has significantly more AUM and a better rep in general. also super unique since you do seed, growth, and buyout from the same fund. Insight also has a fuck ton of upwards mobility GA kicks hella ppl out after 2 years. from what I know comp is way better at analyst level and prolly also at associate and above just as a function of Insight's AUM

Ahh make sense, thought insight couldn’t raise its $20bn fund and slashed the target down to $15bn (and still hasn’t closed it)? Also GA still operates an evergreen fund structure to some extent which might show why it doesn’t raise as much.

Insight and GA are both fantastic brands with long records of performance. At the SA / Analyst level, the biggest consideration for me would be the mobility / stability of the roles. If GA really is taking that few back, that isn't ideal. And the analyst program I know for a fact is 2 years in and out. BUT -- someone from that program just went on to Sequoia as a partner on the growth team, so that certainly should speak to its quality. Also, know that Insight is primarily (almost exclusively) a software investor. GA has a broader set of teams, some more interesting than others.
