Networking Before SA Starts?

Hi there - will be starting as an S&T intern at a BB this summer, no desk placement given everything is virtual

Have seen mixed opinions on networking w/ desks before the actual SA stint starts, some people say it wouldn't hurt, some people say it's too much and shows low EQ.

I know SA group placement networking is prevalent and rather structured in IBD, but what about in S&T? Is it standard practice? Or is frowned upon and seen as kiss ass/try-hard?

Would love to hear some thoughts.

imo, you are thinking too much about it. It's fine to network just don't waste their time. Ask about ways you can get ready and try to think about ways you can add value (like automating things).
