Sending 3-statment model / stock pitch in a cold email?
Non-target lateral analyst here. Got riffed recently. Have prior experience in TMT banking before my most recent role and trying to continue down that path.
Having trouble getting responses in my cold emails. I don't have a lot of alumni in these banks so looking for ways to differentiate myself.
Would I be a tool if I sent a 3-statment model of a public media / tech company that I created in a cold email?
I feel like there's conflicting signals on here. Like show your passionate / have an interest but at the same time don't be too much of a hardo. I've tried the whole thing of finding obscure interests in their LinkedIn bio, but can't help but feel its coming off as naïve or forced.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hey there, fellow finance enthusiast! I can see you're really eager to stand out in your cold emails, and that's a great attitude to have. Now, let's talk about your idea of sending a 3-statement model in a cold email.
While it's true that showing your passion and interest is important, you also want to respect the recipient's time and attention. Remember, people are busy and the quicker you get to the point, the better. So, while a 3-statement model might demonstrate your skills, it could also be seen as too much information for a first contact.
Instead, consider mentioning your experience in TMT banking and your interest in continuing down that path. You could also touch upon a recent event in the industry or a specific company that you find interesting. This shows your enthusiasm and knowledge without overwhelming the recipient.
Also, remember to personalize your email. It helps a lot when the recipient doesn't feel like the email is pure spam. So, instead of just copying and pasting, add some customization to the specific individual you're reaching out to.
Lastly, be polite and offer some alternatives. Recognize that the person is busy and offer to talk over email, or ask if they could refer you directly to the recruiter or HR.
Remember, the goal is to get a response, not to showcase everything you know in one email. Keep it concise, enthusiastic, personalized, and polite. Good luck!

I had a few people ask for work samples after my email/call from their end. But never have sent an unsolicited one exactly because of your concern.
Would be great if someone weighs in.
