Was I betrayed? Do I renege?

I got an offer at a big company back in December for something I wanted to do, and they said ok good you've been selected, now they do background check. Winter break ended and January started and they said background check done and cleared, however, we don't want to give you that role, we want to give you another role. This new role is horrible and barely related to finance. They gave me 3 days to accept the offer. I accepted because I was scared I wouldn't have anything else for summer. After accepting, I kept looking at the new role outline and kept getting pissed as I felt betrayed, even though I wasn't actually betrayed, I just felt betrayed. It's such a shit role. (I'm a first year Idk if it matters or not). One night I got so mad I cold emailed and applied like crazy (didn't sleep), and now I have a couple IB interviews at some boutique firms in the US. Would it be bad if I reneged with the big (very big) company if I get offer somewhere else) Would it even be worth it?

I would accept their current offer so you have something for the summer as a safety net.

Then I would interview and try to find something better.

They showed you no loyalty so why should you?

Dude, are you serious? You're absolutely justified here. Them giving you a different position was essentially just them reneging so I wouldn't give two thoughts about ditching them for a better offer.

And for those of you who may say "two wrongs don't make a right, them doing something wrong doesn't justify you doing it, don't stoop to their level" you're right but I don't give a shit, these large corporations and their brutally unethical hiring practices have gone unchecked for too long, they need a taste of their own medicine for once

It’s a bit like constructive dismissal even though you haven’t started. To me that’s a red flag. Hope you find something else so you don’t need to put this company on your resume.
