Pandora Radio

A civil engineer buddy of mine sent me a link to http://www.pandora.com/. Thought if was interesting enough to share with my fellow monkeys that can also listen to music quietly at their desk. You basically start by typing in an artist or a song that you like and then the program built into the site creates a radio station of similar music.

I thought it was neat back then, and it's definitely a good way to get introduced to new music.

That being said, I like to have control over what I listen to and the radio doesn't allow me to do that. I've stopped using it for that reason.

with mdcacnt. Although, its a great program, you really don't have control of the songs that you want played. Also, many of the songs within a station don't belong. Lastly, pandora plays many of the songs over and over again. But if you have nothing else to fall to, pandora is your friend.

Project Playlist.

It's free, and you can select the songs you want. Each playlist holds 200 songs.

It's not guaranteed they'll have the particular song you want, and sometimes it's only an excerpt, but if it's popular enough, there will be a full-length version from someone.

Pandora is awesome - nearly every analyst in my office has it on constantly.

It gets better if you keep training it - remember to thumbs up and thumbs down songs every once in a while. If it's playing a song too much, there's an option to 'not play this for a month'.

Another great at work music option - www.lala.com

Basically LaLa takes an inventory of everything you have in your home iTunes, and uploads it to their server. You can then stream it back to your work computer through their site. Great if you have a large collection at home.
